アメリカのロックバンド レッド・ホット・チリ・ペッパーズの8thアルバム「By The Way」に収録されている曲です。
同アルバムからの3枚目のシングルとしても2003年1月にリリースされました。
長い間ライヴのオープニングナンバーとなっており、ジャムセッションからこの曲のイントロが始まる流れは、何度観ても鳥肌が立ちます。
歌詞の意味と解釈
歌詞はなかなか難解で、韻を意識した言葉や、アンソニーらしい抽象的なフレーズや言葉遊びも多いです。
大まかな解釈としては、音楽やエンターテイメントがもたらすパワー、人々の行動や意志が「影響の連鎖を止めずに続けていく様子」(＝Can’t Stop) を歌っているのではないかと思います。

・Chop Top チョップ・トップ
一般的には天井部分を低くした改造車の事を指すようですが、海外の歌詞サイトで”チョップ・トップ”とはレッチリの最初期に一緒に仕事をしたレコーディング・プロデューサーの名前（ニックネーム？）だという記述がありました。

・white heat ホワイト・ヒート。直訳すると「白い熱」ですが、アメリカのオルタナティヴロックバンドの元祖と言えるバンド Velvet Undergroundの傑作アルバム「White Heat White Light」からとっている可能性もあります。

・Mop tops モップ・トップス。日本でいうところのマッシュルームヘアです。そういう髪型をしたビートルズの事を指しているかもしれません。
・J.Butterfly 女性活動家のJulia Butterfly Hill(ジュリア・バタフライ・ヒル)。森林伐採に対する抗議として、2年間樹上生活を行ったそうです。
