タイトルの「ペイパーカット」とは、"紙で指などを切ってしまう事" を指します。

歌詞は、恋人とケンカしている場面から始まります。

「痛みをともない、わずかに血も出るけど、全く心配するような事柄じゃない、朝になったら元通り、ただのペイパーカットさ」と自分に言い聞かせているようです。
