ザ・ビートルズ – ガール

ザ・ビートルズの6thアルバム「Rubber Soul」(1965年) に収録されている曲です。

レノン・マッカートニー名義の曲ですが、実質ジョン・レノンの作品で、ジョンのお気に入りの曲と言われています。

ジョンはこの曲を「"夢の少女"についての曲」で、後のソロの曲『Woman』はこの『Girl』の大人バージョン、だと説明しています。

歌詞の意味と解釈

歌詞は、「魅力的で心惹かれるけど手の焼ける、ちょっと変わった少女」を想う様子が書かれています。

単なるラブソングとは違う、ちょっと哲学的な部分もある歌詞です。

聞いていてなんだかモヤモヤしてしまう感じは、結構共感できます(笑)

曲中の大袈裟な息継ぎは、大麻を吸う仕草と噂されています。
ちょっとした"悪ふざけ"(後述)も入っている曲なので、大麻説も否定できません。
