Queen – Don’t Stop Me Now
クイーン – ドント・ストップ・ミー・ナウ

イギリスのロックバンド クイーンの7thアルバム「Jazz」(1978年) に収録されている曲です。

1979年1月にシングルとしてもリリースされましたが、発売当時はイギリスのシングルチャートで9位、アメリカでは86位と、振るわない結果となりました。

しかし、時代が経るにつれて人気の曲となり、現在ではクイーンの中でも5本の指に入る代表曲となっています。

歌詞の意味と解釈

「僕を止めないで」というタイトル通り、ハイテンションな演奏と、楽しむ気満々の歌詞が印象的な曲です。

ただし、意外なことにブライアン・メイのギターは中盤のギターソロでしか登場しません。ブライアン・メイはこの曲を気に入っていなかったらしく、その原因は歌詞の内容にあったようです。

というのも、快楽主義的な内容の歌詞は、当時薬物と肉欲に溺れていたフレディ・マーキュリーの様子を考えると、"洒落にならない" ものだったからです。

時間を経てからこの曲の評価が上がったのも、歌詞に浮かび上がるフレディの危うさを気にせず、純粋に音楽を楽しめるようになったからかもしれません。
