雑記
5年ぶりのアルバムの冒頭を飾るに相応しい、瑞々しさと華々しさに満ち溢れた楽曲。歌詞は色々と解釈できますが、印象的な「why did we wait so long?」のフレーズは、良質なアルバムが完成するまでに、そして音楽をやる喜びを取り戻すまでに「どうしてこんなに時間がかかったのさ！？」とバンドが自分達に歌いかけているようにも感じられました。リスナーも自分を重ね合わせて、生きている喜び、日常の尊さを見出せるのだと思います。
MV、最後の合唱はまさにそれを表しているのではないか、と。
ちなみにタイトルである「Mother」。母親というよりは、喜びの象徴のような、そんなものを連想しました。
