言葉の意味・解説

・power out　上の訳では「停電」としています。
停電は正確には「power outage」ですが、歌詞のシチュエーションから、停電と解釈してよいと思います。
　サビの部分の「the power’s out in the heart of man」にかかっているようです。

雑記

Neigborhood 4作品のうちの、3部目です。アルバムの中で最も激しい曲調と、停電の緊迫感が表現された曲です。

停電や氷、子供達、夜、灯りなどが何を指しているのかは定かではありません。
一節には、1980代～90年代の北米経済の繁栄と、2000年初頭のITバブル崩壊による経済の衰退が曲のテーマになっていると言われています。歌の主人公は、その中で育った世代（氷河期世代？）を表現している事になります。確かに「両親の手は氷に覆われ」「夢も計画もない」「嵐の中で育てば寒くも暑くもならない」といった部分は、不景気を表していると言えなくもありません。
