ザ・ビートルズ – オクトパス・ガーデン
ザ・ビートルズの11thアルバム「Abbey Road」(1969年) に収録されている曲です。
リンゴ・スターの作品で、リードボーカルもリンゴです。作曲の多くをジョージ・ハリスンが手伝ったといいます。
リンゴが一時レコーディングを離脱し、イタリアで初めてタコを食べ、タコの生態を聞いた経験から生まれた曲だそうです。
歌詞の意味と解釈
歌詞の内容は、海の底にある「タコの庭」でひっそりと楽しく暮らす、というものです。
おとぎ話のような世界観ですが、当時のビートルズの不和から逃れたい、という気持ちが反映されたものとも言われています。
とはいえ、この曲のレコーディングはメンバー4人が参加し、和やかなムードで行われたといいます。
