歌詞の意味と解釈

タイトル「スタンド・バイ・ミー」を訳すと ”俺のそばにいてくれ” となります。

このタイトルは、ノエルにとってのヒーロージョン・レノンもカバーした、ベン・Ｅ・キングの名曲『Stand By Me』の影響だと言われてます。

また、「Made a meal (食事を作った)」から始まる出だしのフレーズは、ノエルがロンドンに引っ越した際、母ペギーの忠告に従って自炊をしたら食中毒になってしまった、という心温まる(？) エピソードがもとになっているそうです。

その他の歌詞も、どこか家族やノスタルジーを感じさせるものとなっています。
