エムジーエムティー – タイム・トゥー・プリテンド

アメリカのサイケポップ・ユニット MGMTの1stアルバム「Oracular Spectacular」(”謎めいた特別ショー”の意味) に収録されている曲です。

同アルバムの1枚目のシングルとして、2008年3月にリリースされました。

もともとはデビュー前のEP「Time To Pretend」(2005年) の表題曲としてリリースされています（アルバム収録とは別バージョン）。

歌詞の意味と解釈

タイトル「タイム・トゥ・プリテンド」(フリをする時間) は、若くして成功するミュージシャンの"ビッグな夢"を皮肉りながらも、それは「プリテンド (らしい振る舞い)」だと、どこか物悲しく歌った曲です。

“ロックの熱さ"と距離を置くMGMTならではの視点と言えそうです。
